The Akwesasne Home Day Care Program provides child care services in private homes. Our philosophy is to give your child warm, loving, and quality care in a home setting. Our providers are energetic, understanding and professional people who enter into a contract with the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Child Care Program. Providers see their home as a workplace where children engage in age-appropriate daily activities in a clean, safe and secure environment.

Each home is licensed separately by the Ontario Ministry of Education, and as such must meet certain standards of fire and health.

Age Requirements

Our Private Home Care sites accept children from 6 weeks to the age of 12 years. Our primary concern is to meet the need for infant care. If space permits, care for the older age group will be considered.

Flexibility

If needed, home care providers may accept your child on a more flexible basis than the child care centres. Along with Monday through Friday, a provider may agree to care for children in the evenings, week-ends, half days or after school hours. Parental needs will be discussed on an individual basis with providers, and the Private Home day Care Supervisor.

How To Enroll Your Child

Parents may pick up a package at any of the 3 child care centres, located in each district of Akwesasne. In this package you will find various forms to complete and sign. However, in order for your child to begin, you must have the Medical Assessment Form completed and signed by a doctor, as well as a record of up-to-date immunization.  Once the forms are complete and submitted to the Private Home Day Care Supervisor, you will be notified when an opening becomes available for your child.

For More information to enroll your child or to become a Provider please contact Heather David, PHDC Supervisor at 613-938-5067.
